The following is a piece that I had published in Avant: New Writings 2007. I originally wrote, memorised and recited this for a friend who had just suffered an emotional setback and was having a tough week. She had also recently received her black belt in Karate, hence the theme. It was originally called Megabored Missive, as I wrote it while I was trapped in a public library (I had paid for 2 more hours of parking at a vicious cost of almost $1.60!) after finishing all my study for the day. It was published under the title “Meeting Mighty Martial Maiden Mid-May”, which is a mouthful. I have renamed it once again as “Maybe”. I hope you enjoy it.
Morning, Mighty Martial Maiden! May many merry moments make magnificent memories, minus malevolent miseries. Many may meditate misguidedly, meaning making – mayhap maiming – merry mighty martial maiden, malice maybe mirth motives meaning misadventure. Minxish martial maiden moves masterfully, making misfortune magically melt. Mighty martial maiden makes many masses mirthful – mayhem, majesty, mammary – make meaning most manifest. Missing mediocre males, mountebanks, mournful moody mopers; mean mere mortal men mayn’t meet mighty martial maiden’s mattress – many moribund myocardium mass morosely. My mate mighty martial maiden makes masticating mayonnaise mesmerising, momentarily. Methinks myriad miracles mere minions, making mighty martial maiden mellifluously move mountains. Many malapropisms manifest, my modest meandering magic missive merely my minstrel manoeuvre making mighty martial maiden merry.
Maybe.
